Correct Installation of BPM Rackline Series Lithium Batteries
Why Is Correct Installation Important for BPM Rackline Series Batteries?
In professional energy storage systems, correct mechanical installation is as important as the electrical characteristics of the battery. Particularly in systems incorporating multiple battery modules, an organized physical arrangement contributes to more controlled installation, cabling, and subsequent servicing operations.
The BPM Rackline Series LiFePO₄ lithium batteries, for which System Solar Power Energy Systems serves as the main distributor in Türkiye, can be installed in a rack cabinet using the appropriate mounting hardware or, where permitted by the product configuration, arranged in a suitable stacked installation.
Before beginning installation, make sure that the battery is switched off. Electrical connections should not be started before the mechanical installation has been completed.
1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection
The product should first be carefully removed from its packaging without damaging the battery or the accessories supplied with it.
Verify that the mounting hardware and other components supplied with the battery are complete. Keeping the original product packaging in suitable condition is also recommended for potential warranty or technical service requirements.
Before installation, visually inspect the physical condition of the battery, its connection terminals, and the supplied mounting components.
2. Installing the Front Mounting Brackets
After confirming that the battery is switched off, install the front mounting brackets supplied in the package on both sides of the battery.
Each front mounting bracket is secured using 2 M4×10 RYSB screws, resulting in a total of four mounting screws for both sides.
These components provide the primary mechanical interface for securing the front section of the battery to the vertical rails of the rack cabinet.
3. Securing the Side Mounting Brackets
After installing the front mounting components, the corresponding side mounting components are secured to the battery.
According to the specified installation procedure, a total of 4 M4×12 RYSB screws are used to secure the side mounting components on both sides.
Verify that the mounting components are installed in the correct orientation and that all mounting points are properly seated.
4. Preparing the Rack Cabinet
Before inserting the battery into the rack cabinet, determine the required mounting height.
Position the rack cage nuts in the appropriate mounting holes corresponding to the battery’s front mounting brackets. Their exact position may vary depending on the rack cabinet design and the required installation arrangement.
Ensure that the mounting points on the left and right sides are positioned at the same level so that the battery can be installed correctly and horizontally inside the rack.
5. Preparing the Rear Mounting Components
Position the relevant module mounting components at the rear of the rack cabinet to provide the required mechanical support for the battery.
These components are secured using the appropriate rack nuts installed on the vertical rails during the preceding stage.
Correct alignment between the front and rear mounting positions is important to ensure that the battery can be properly positioned inside the rack cabinet.
6. Installing the Battery in the Rack Cabinet
Once the mounting positions have been prepared, carefully insert the battery into the rack cabinet.
Secure the battery’s front mounting brackets to the front vertical rails of the rack cabinet. During this process, verify that the battery is properly seated, that the front mounting points are correctly aligned, and that no unnecessary mechanical stress is applied to the battery enclosure.
Considering the weight and physical dimensions of the battery, appropriate handling and lifting practices should be used during installation.
7. Securing the Side Mounting Points
After the battery has been correctly positioned inside the rack cabinet, secure the right and left side mounting brackets to the corresponding rack mounting points.
This allows the battery to be mechanically positioned using the relevant side support points in addition to the front mounting interface.
After all mounting points have been secured, verify that the battery is correctly aligned inside the rack cabinet.
8. Parallel Power Connections Between Battery Modules
When multiple BPM Rackline batteries are used within the same energy storage system, the electrical connection stage can begin after the mechanical installation has been completed.
The parallel power connections between battery modules must be made through the appropriate positive and negative power terminals in accordance with the manufacturer’s specified connection procedure.
Correct polarity is critical when making parallel battery connections. Electrical connections must be performed by qualified personnel while the system is de-energized and in accordance with the relevant technical documentation.
The fact that battery modules are physically installed next to or above one another does not, by itself, mean that the electrical parallel connection has been completed. Power connections and any required communication connections must be implemented separately according to the system design.
Key Points for Stacked Installation Without a Rack Cabinet
For suitable BPM Rackline applications where the batteries are positioned in a stacked configuration, the side mounting accessories supplied with the product are used.
One of the key installation requirements is that the screw mounting points of the side brackets should face downward consistently from the bottom battery to the top battery.
The same orientation should be maintained for every battery installed in the stack.
The screws should not be fully tightened during the initial positioning stage. Leaving the connections slightly loose allows the batteries to settle correctly and enables the mounting brackets to be properly aligned.
Once all batteries have been correctly positioned, the connections should be tightened in accordance with the manufacturer’s specified tightening requirements.
This installation method helps create a more organized and practical battery arrangement.
Technical Points to Consider During Installation
The following fundamental requirements should be considered when installing BPM Rackline batteries:
* Confirm that the battery is switched off before beginning installation.
* Use the original mounting components supplied with the product.
* Verify the orientation of all mounting components.
* Prepare the rack mounting points at the correct and consistent height.
* Do not force the battery into the rack cabinet.
* Complete the mechanical installation before beginning power connections.
* Always verify positive and negative polarity when making parallel connections.
* Do not apply an estimated tightening torque unless a specific value is provided by the manufacturer.
* Electrical connections should be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with the relevant technical documentation and safety procedures.
